Mission

  • Overall Planning of the construction and maintenance of the university’s computer and network resources
    1. Provide high speed operating hosts and related software packages
    2. Provide and manage the university’s E-mail, WWW & Proxy, and FTP & Archie server hosts.
    3. Organize and operate the campus’ System and Network Management Group, also provide every department services related to computer and network management.
    4. Plan, construct and manage the campus’ high speed optical fiber network; reinforce the network security mechanism.
    5. Administrative announcements integrated into electronic news and application of mail server.
    6. Campus’ wireless network and roaming project.
    7. Improper-information filtering mechanism of the mail server.
    8. Construction of operating environment – cooperation with Academia Sinica on the LCG project, cooperation with NCHC (NationalCenter for High-performance Computing) on the Taiwan UniGrid project and others, which can be combined with the campus’ PC Cluster resources to provide a more stable and higher speed operating environment.

  • Responsible for the construction, operation and management of TANet (Taiwan Academic Network) and RNC (RegionalNetworkCenter)
    1. Provide TANet services to colleges, research centers, primary and secondary schools of Tao-Yuan, Chin-Men and Lien-Jan off-shore islands, a total of more than 300 units.
    2. Provide about 200 dial-up connections service.
    3. Construct, provide and manage platform and environment for Distance Education.
    4. Plan and enhance the bandwidth and resources for connections outside the campus.
    5. Participate in TWAREN (Taiwan Advanced Research & Education Network) POP project.

  • Construction and implementation of the “e-lized” administrative system.
    1. Develop and integrate a database system for the whole campus to provide searching services.
    2. Improve the quality and quantity of human resources for the computerized administration; reinforce the information and computer education of the administrative personals.
    3. Maintenance and management of the computerized administration.
    4. Development of the School Administration Information System; continue in supporting every department, improving the services and application systems.
    5. Construction of the platform for Distance Education. (Blackboard System)
    6. Construction of Official Documents’ and Electronic Form Flow Path Management System.
    7. Single entrance for the university’s website management system.

  • Our future works will be mainly focused in these four parts:
    • continue in propelling the computerized administration work,
    • sreinforce the management of the campus’ network and network security,
    • construct the network and Distance Education platform of Taiwan University System,
    • operation, management and maintenance of the TANet.
    • Main development aspect of Multimedia Communications and Services Division in the next three years, starting from August 2006:Produce a Standard Operation Procedure(SOP): To assist each division in arranging the internal SOP, carry out the SOP establishing project, and through the control of SOP, each division may use the SOP as a teaching material for new staffs, executing quality control and a basis for improvement.
    1. Create the Human Resource System: By dividing manpower according professional and interest, build up a learning mechanism and strengthen the channel of knowledge acquiring, and thus enhancing the learning will and sharing covert knowledge.
    2. Create a Community System: Integrating the virtual or reality knowledge community through forums or book clubs, and enhancing the value and applicability of the contents of the community.
    3. The benefit of encouraging Knowledge Management(KM): continue in enhancing the completeness of the knowledge of organizing, exciting the creativity of organizing, and to produce values by compiling customer knowledge, and finally raising the professional service.
    4. Provide aid to colleagues of the Center to understand the Capability Maturity Model Integration(CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD/SS): On the basis of the CMMI concept, enhance the capability and product standard of the center effectively and constantly by improving procedures, and finally raising the quality and productivity of software.
