Introduction

A state-of-the-art cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer (TAS) at the Australia OPAL reactor is currently under planning by a term from Taiwan, sponsored by National Science Council of Taiwan. This cold TAS will be located at the CG4 port at the reactor face and has been scheduled to be commissioning by late 2009. The machine will optimize in the incident neutron flux and energy range, and the flexibility in vary the intensity-resolution trade off. A large double-focusing crystal monochromator will be empolyed to access as many neutrons as possible from the large CG4 beam port. Multi-detector system and polarizing capability will alao be considered.
