Coordinating the setup, maintenance, and management of the university's computing and network resources

  1. Providing high-performance computing servers and related software packages.
  2. Providing and managing the university's email services, World Wide Web (WWW), proxy caching, and server hosting.
  3. Providing DNS name registration services.
  4. Providing VPN services to allow faculty and students to access on-campus resources from off-campus locations.
  5. Organizing and operating the campus network and system management team, providing services to all university departments for managing computer and network-related resources.
  6. Planning, building, and managing the university's campus-wide fiber-optic backbone network while strengthening security mechanisms.
  7. Integrating administrative announcements with electronic newsletters and mail server applications.
  8. Campus wireless internet and inter-campus roaming plan.
  9. Implementing an inappropriate content filtering mechanism for the email server.
  10. Providing annual campus-wide licenses for Microsoft Windows, Office, and antivirus software.

Operation and management of the Taiwan Academic Network Taoyuan Regional Network Center

  1. Provide various services connecting approximately 300 institutions, including colleges, research units, high schools, and junior high and elementary schools in the Taoyuan and Kinmen-Lienchiang island areas, to the Taiwan Academic Network.
  2. Develop and establish an integrated monitoring system combined with real-time alerts to continuously monitor the network equipment and resources of the Taoyuan area network and connected schools. This system ensures that website services are functioning properly and provides immediate alerts and notifications of cybersecurity incidents from the Ministry of Education to connected schools for prompt response and management.
  3. Signed a memorandum of cooperation for off-site backup with National Dong Hwa University (Hualien Area Network Center), enabling mutual and equal use of each other's storage space for off-site backups. The Taoyuan area network fully opens applications for off-site disaster recovery services to connected schools, ensuring that essential system services of these schools remain uninterrupted.
  4. Established an HTTPS certificate proxy service to reduce the need for connected schools to individually install and regularly update certificates. This initiative successfully facilitated the comprehensive adoption of HTTPS on the websites of connected schools, achieving an A+ security rating.
  5. Provide vulnerability scanning and web security assessment services for schools connected to the Taoyuan regional network.
  6. Participate in the maintenance and operation plan for the National Broadband Experimental Network (TWAREN POP) and assist the Ministry of Education in the establishment of improper information systems.

Implementation and promotion of the establishment of e-administrative systems

  1. Establish a portal website to integrate related administrative information systems, providing more convenient services for all faculty, staff, and students.
  2. Through the integration of the administrative system database, we provide cross-departmental data sharing and e-services.
  3. Actively implement standardized operating procedures for software project development to enhance the quality and productivity of software project execution.
  4. Proactively assist various departments in the development and maintenance of administrative information systems for the university.
  5. Promote the virtualization and cloud management of the university's information systems.

Develop cloud computing

  1. Establish a cloud system: Gradually transfer existing service hosts, dynamically allocate resources, enhance system reliability and equipment utilization, and flexibly provide virtual hosts or computing services for the entire university. This aims to achieve a more reliable, stable, and diverse service environment, allowing access to IT-based services anytime and anywhere via the Internet.
  2. Implement cloud backup and rapid recovery solutions to mitigate the impact of data loss or damage caused by system failures or cyberattacks.

Our future main work:

In the future, our center will not only actively expand the existing virtual desktop platform and campus information system services, but also support mobile device operations. To strengthen network protection, we will update campus network equipment and enhance information security, data backup, and network management, thereby implementing the vision of a "Dynamic Administration and Smart Campus."

  • Expand the multi-cloud integrated virtual desktop to provide an efficient and convenient learning environment.
  • An integrated campus information system with an application architecture that supports operation on multiple devices.
  • Enhance the quality of cloud computing resources and improve the backup and restoration capabilities of information systems.
  • Strengthen network management and information security protection, and enhance energy-saving and carbon-reduction efficiency of data center equipment.

In addition, our center will adopt the following strategies to create a sustainable and secure digital campus, aiming to enhance cybersecurity resilience and achieve digital sustainability:

  • Promote the implementation of an information security management system.
  • Enhance personnel awareness and training.
  • Ensure the capacity for information and communication system management.
  • Implement management of hazardous safety products.
  • Enhance cybersecurity protection for the cloud data center.
